Dec 2, 2021

This month we shine ECON’s Foam Master Spotlight on Isotech Sprayfoam.

BBA-approved Insulation Contractors

Isotech Sprayfoam are BBA-approved insulation contractors who specialise in closed-cell polyurethane spray foam installations. Based in Southsea, Hampshire, the professional outfit has been expertly tackling unusual and challenging contracts since 1992. This spans both the commercial and private sectors. People-focused and adaptable, they take pride in offering a bespoke service, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each project.

40 Years’ Experience

Directly-employing insulation contractors, Isotech Sprayfoam have 40 years’ experience in the application of sprayed foam insulation and coatings. All their employees have CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) accreditation.

Closed-cell Foam Systems

They install closed-cell polyurethane foam systems including BASF’s Elastospray LWP, distributed by ECON Polyurethanes in the UK and Ireland. This eco-friendly, CFC and HCFC-free spray foam offers superb thermal performance. As you can tell from this recent video, it is extremely quick to apply and versatile so it can be used to insulate roofs, walls, floors, soffits and more.

Superior Thermal Performance

In use for more than 50 years, spray foam insulation has been a go-to system for those seeking superior thermal performance, draught-proofing qualities and prevention of air leakage.

Comprehensive Technical Support

In collaboration with the ECON support team, Isotech Sprayfoam is happy to provide clients with comprehensive technical support including substrate model U-value calculations and condensation risk analysis specific to each project. Datasheets, site-specific risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and the company Health and Safety Policy are always available.

Substantial Contracts

Isotech Sprayfoam undertakes a wide variety of insulation work, including loft and timber-framed wall insulation projects for domestic customers. Their commercial works division has completed substantial contracts for utility companies and multinationals.

Wide Variety of Applications

Spray foam is installed in a wide variety of applications by Isotech Sprayfoam.  This includes commercial, industrial & agricultural buildings, new build, barn conversions & timber-framed buildings, tanks & shipping containers, marine craft & boats and cast in-situ concrete soffits.

Challenging Architectural Specifications.

Frequently providing the desired insulation solution,  Isotech Sprayfoam installs to meet unique and challenging architectural specifications. One such unusual and prestigious project the Isotech team has worked on was the Arts University of Bournemouth Drawing Studio. Based on a steel monocoque structure, the striking building featured no straight lines anywhere. This meant that providing a consistent, reliable insulating layer over crossed and re-crossed ribs and stiffening beams could only be achieved with a sprayed product.  You can enjoy a 360-degree view of the completed project here.

Churchill War Rooms

Isotech Sprayfoam was also contracted to install the insulation to the new entrance foyer to the iconic Churchill War Rooms in London operated by the Imperial War Museum.  They also installed insulation to the rebuilt mews of the multi-million-pound redevelopment of a Grade 1 listed property in Belgrave Square.

Green Build Projects

Green build projects are also a sector in which Isotech Sprayfoam has plenty of experience.  This includes a new build Passivhaus project in Poole, Dorset. The homeowner wanted a home that would run with near-zero energy costs and used the German Passivhaus method of construction to achieve this. With its irregular shape, an insulation material was needed that could accommodate the design irregularity without compromising the airtightness or consistent thermal insulation. The roof structure was designed with a combination of PIR board above and a 105 mm layer of closed-cell spray foam that Isotech Sprayfoam installed between the rafters. Initially in a liquid state, the system immediately formed an insulating foam on contact, moulding itself to the contours of the building. You can read the full case study here.  They have also recently completed an install for a a low carbon eco house.  You can read the full case study for that project here.

Marine Industries

Elastospray LWP spray foam continues to be used extensively in the marine industries, particularly for the insulation of steel and aluminum vessels. The closed-cell nature of the material won’t readily absorb water and it can adhere to and insulate the curved surfaces of a ship hull and fill tricky to reach nooks and crannies.  Maritime projects undertaken by Isotech Sprayfoam include insulating a newly fabricated 57-foot long steel canal barge with battery propulsion in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. In this instance, the owner ensured the steel was prepared with a suitable rust-inhibiting primer. Isotech Sprayfoam then protected all openings and masked off the grounds with parcel tape to ease the removal of minimal material overspray. In no time at all the desired skin was applied with minimal fuss and disruption.
